Retail Store Birthday Promotions Work
Are You Offering a Free Gift or Discount on Customers' Birthdays? Disney recently announced that for 2009, theme park vistors will
receive free admission on their birthdays. This offer has created a
lot of positive buzz among Disney lovers. Why? Customers love free. Free gifts, additional discounts, etc. When
there is a free offer, they respond well. Many retailers offer either a free gift or an additional discount
on the customer's birthday. People like to be treated well on
their birthdays, both by others and by themselves. A discount or free gift will draw customers into your store on their
birthdays. If you are offering a free gift, most will buy items while
there. Discounts are popular because birthday customers are in a good
mood and willing to buy something nice (and hopefully expensive)
to make them feel special. Take advantage of this by creating your own birthday club. When
collecting contact information for your customer list, ask them for
their date of birth. You can even mention that you are collecting their information so
that you can give them a free gift on their birthday. This will
reduce most customer's resistance to providing you with their
contact information and help you build your customer list. While a free gift or discount costs your store money, it will help
you build a positive relationship with your customers and help turn
them into repeat customers. Having repeat customers buying from
you again and again is where the profits are in retail. ==============================================================
