Joe is founder and president of IndependentStoreSuccess.com. He has a diverse 15+ year career in the retail industry where he has learned and implemented strategies on how to attract customers cost effectively, how to get customers to buy, and most importantly, how to run a profitable business.

Joe began his retail career during college when he worked at a major electronics chain retailer. Within a few years of earning his degree, he decided he wanted to call his own shots and opened his own retail store, a specialty gift shop retail store. As owner, manager, and primary employee, he learned what independent retail store owners should do when running their business. Just as importantly, he also learned what retail store owners should not do.

After selling his specialty gift shop store, Joe entered the furniture industry. He held positions as a store manager, district manager, and manufacturer's representative. Along the way, he increased his knowledge of customer acquisition strategies and the operational and financial management of retail stores.

He then joined the travel industry where he was VP and head of sales for one of the largest travel agencies in the U.S. During his six years there he devised and implemented sales strategies and systems that helped increase company sales from $2 million a year to over $500 million a year and hired and trained a sales force of over 250 commissioned sales people. During this time frame he added to his knowledge base proven ways of getting marketing, sales, and human resource management results.

Joe is co-owner of a lawn and garden center in Texas as well as founder and publisher of IndependentStoreSuccess.com, where he has created extensive resources designed specifically for independent retail owners to help them put easy to implement marketing, operations, and financial systems in place so that they can run their stores successfully, and most important, profitably.

Joe is also a regular contributor to retail industry trade magazines and websites where he shares his insights on retail marketing and operations.

In addition to being a retail business owner, Joe has a passion for travel. When not working in his store or on the computer, you'll likely finding him somewhere in Europe or traveling the ocean on a cruise ship.
